I should have a look at home advantage in domestic cricket competitions to see what comes out. My feeling is that it's not just the crowd but also familiarity with the local conditions. All the teams were created from scratch, with many players' home grounds not being where they've played for years. So it makes sense that there wouldn't be much home advantage this year. And while the season only goes for six to eight weeks, I'd be inclined to think that there won't be a big home advantage for the foreseeable future.

Agree with DB on this - Knight Riders home ground was Eden Gardens - out of the XI only Ganguly and Dinda could call that their actual home ground, i.e. where they have played all their life.. so for the rest of the team the ground was as alien as the rest of the teams..

RE: what is a good total?

I would say 160 is a par score but the teams chasing will usually find it easier as over 40 overs the nature of the pitch hardly changes so knowing what u need to get is definitely an advantage..

It's true, DB, familiarity with the conditions can also be a factor, but as Q says, I doubt it would play much of a role in such an abbreviated format. In a way, I kinda hope it does... could you imagine having one ground that is "the spinner's ground", another one "the swing bowler's ground", etc? That would add another level of depth to the competition that would make it so much more interesting for the fan.
