April 26
Chennai v. Kolkata
Bangalore v. Rajasthan
This will be an abridged wrap-up since I only got to watch highlights of the first game, and then I just couldn't handle watching Smith and Watson carve (out of sheer principle). Proper coverage will resume shortly.
Star among stars... Jacob Oram (Chennai SuperKings)
Jake must be the only 6'6" fast bowler in history who gets the majority of his wickets with slower balls, but we shouldn't hold that against him if he bowls as well as he did against Kolkata. (It also helps that his main competition for today's award was Shane Watson, who we'd rather avoid commemorating if at all possible.)
Old-timer on an egg-timer... Ricky Ponting (Kolkata Knight Riders)
Since the entire Aussie contingent is leaving tomorrow, how's this for a figure: $20,000. That's the amount of money paid per run scored by Ponting in the 2008 edition of the IPL.
Catch from the catchment... Laxmi Shukla (Kolkata Knight Riders)
He top-scored for a lackluster Kolkata batting lineup, and was then unfortunately run-out, courtesy of an ingenious piece of fielding by two keepers (Dhoni and Patel).
1 Bullet in the head...
Ponting will get a third of his annual $400,000 since he wont be featuring in the entire tournament - this was pre decided. This means he'll be getting only 133K. That makes it $6,650 per run scored in the IPL.
Still a lot for what he's done in the 3 matches.

Good to know, thanks Q. It seems my antipathy towards Punter got the better of my maths skills this time.
