Having followed his career since he came onto the scene in 2003, it's become clear that no player in international cricket bowls better juicy half-volleys than Jimmy Anderson. It's almost a preternatural ability for him, just like the back-of-a-length corridor ball is for McGrath, or the in-swinger into the pads is for Vaas.
Anderson's entire action, from the easy gait of his run-up to the slight hint of predictable away-swing he imparts on the ball, seems designed to deliver those shapely, come-hither dollies outside the off-stump that batsmen love to carve through the covers. Someone should put up a highlight clip on YouTube with all the best fours hit off his bowling... I could watch that for hours.
